Dear Arlo | 10 & 11 months

Dear Arlo,

I don't have to tell you because you already know, but for record's sake, I will remind you and label this past month as the month of chaos. We spent all of November packing and unpacking, moving into our new home and getting settled in. December made a dramatic entrance when mommy got Shingles, you got Roseola, and you had your first trip to the E.R. with a 104 fever. It was so incredibly heart wrenching to watch you scream in pain and not be able to help you. I am constantly taken aback by how deeply I feel, as a momma, and In that hospital room pacing back and forth holding you as you sobbed.. I would've given anything to take away your discomfort. Thankfully you are back to your normal, healthy self as we prepare for your first Christmas.. We are surely more excited than you are, and are also pretty sure that you'll spend Christmas morning playing with the boxes that your gifts are packaged in, but that's okay with us. This holiday season is so much more magical and special with you here. This time last year, your dad and I were sitting on the couch playing Skipbo and talking about how strange It would be to have a little baby crawling around at Christmas time. Now I'm looking into the living room, watching him play peek-a-boo with you, as your scrunching your nose and giggling. Time is crazy, and next time I write to you, you will be 12 months old. It seems unreal that a year has almost passed.

Call me super cheesy, girl, but you are the best gift we could've ever asked for.

I love you,  baby bird. Mom

(Also, that time we put you in your cousin's hand-me-over snow suit that was huge and made you look like you were wearing a potato sack...  hashtag fashion fale. Also, Also, that time we sat on the floor of our empty old house, surrounded by overflowing boxes.. trying to capture some last photos in your first home. I hope someday we look back at those photographs and remember the excitement, anxiousness and the tiny bit of sadness we felt about moving into a new home.  )

Olivia

Olivia did so good for her first official photo shoot! Though we had planned for her to be sleeping with a full belly (which she was when I arrived), she had decided she didn't want to miss out on the action and was fully awake. I didn't mind one bit.. mom and dad were a huge help and we were even lucky enough to get some shots of Olivia and her older brother, Trent, who is absolutely smitten with her.

Stephen & Ashley | Married

I am so excited to share my final wedding of the year with you all. Stephen and Ashley's day was filled with rustic and personal touches, including a caravan of classic cars, photos at Ashley and Stephen's home and a pretty awesome cupcake tower that Ashley's dad assembled for the reception. I really couldn't have asked for a better couple or wedding to end my season with. All of my brides and grooms from this past year have me feeling so inspired and insanely excited for what's to come in 2015!

Ellie Jude

My best friend came to visit us last month and brought one of her two littles, so of course we had to sneak in some shots of Miss Ellie while they were here. How cute is that poncho and her little Doc Martens?! I. Can't.

You can see the Pennington's family session from last fall here.

The Ventiquattro Family

I photographed this sweet family of four about a month ago (which should indicate to everyone how behind I am on posting, yikes) and had so much fun with them. Poor Minnie was wanting mommy snuggles during our session, so we decided to let little brother take the spotlight (which as you can see, he was totally game for). Photographing families and trying to capture the 'real' moments means you never know what you're going to get, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Some of my favorites from this session are the ones of Minnie and her mama, being real.

Josh & Lauryn | Married

Josh and Lauryn's wedding day was absolutely perfect.

They granted me such an amazing gift as a wedding photographer, doing a first look. It's so fun and special to be able to photograph the first moments of a bride and groom seeing each other before the ceremony. If you're debating on whether or not to do a first look, do it! It helps ease nerves and always produces such emotional photos, whether it's laughing or crying! Josh and Lauryn created such a cool and unique environment for their wedding day, with pops of purple, white pumpkins, a pretty SICKK candy bar and an adorable squirrel cake topper. It was such a pleasure to capture their day!

Dom and Kaitlyn

With all of this snow falling to the ground, it's so nice to share this unseasonably warm September wedding day. I could share every image from Dom and Kaitlyn's day, but I won't (only because this would be a very lengthy blog post). I also won't go on and on about what an amazing couple these two are, because I feel like each image speaks for itself and truly shows how filled with love, and pure joy their day was. DSC_6221DSC_6239DSC_6268DSC_6295DSC_6312DSC_6332DSC_6354DSC_6380DSC_6509DSC_6514DSC_6533DSC_6585DSC_6609DSC_6639DSC_6644DSC_6665DSC_6789DSC_6812DSC_6871DSC_6884DSC_6930DSC_6954DSC_7001DSC_7008DSC_7231DSC_7247DSC_7248DSC_7269DSC_7271DSC_7280DSC_7283DSC_7289DSC_7290DSC_7314                                                                                                                                           DSC_7372DSC_7375DSC_7381DSC_7396DSC_7413DSC_7422DSC_7424DSC_7437DSC_7452DSC_7461DSC_7483DSC_7489DSC_7536DSC_7540DSC_7545DSC_7549DSC_7557DSC_7566DSC_7570DSC_7577DSC_7579DSC_7596DSC_7654DSC_7664DSC_7693DSC_7735DSC_7818DSC_7822DSC_7991DSC_7993DSC_8152DSC_8153DSC_8164DSC_8179DSC_8182DSC_8203DSC_8214DSC_8237DSC_8272DSC_8345DSC_8398DSC_8416DSC_8432DSC_8441DSC_8524DSC_8541DSC_8556DSC_8559DSC_8469

Alex and Andrew

Our nephew, Alex turned four this month, so naturally, it was time for his yearly photos. I will never tire of photographing this boy. His imagination is amazing and he always brings tons of expression and laughter to our sessions. (If you don't believe me, check out these past sessions here and here.) (New) little brother, Andrew even joined in for a few photos!

Dexter

One of my favorite little guys to photograph! I love a session that allows me to basically follow my subject around and let them do their thing. Look at how much Dexter has grown since last year!

Joe & Nicole | Married

Nicole and Joe were married in a plant filled greenhouse at Olney's Flowers (where Nicole works), and it has to be one of favorite ceremony spots everrrr. Following the ceremony, we headed to the Utica Train Station, in case we needed to dodge any scattered rain showers (luckily we didn't). The combination of the textured buildings, a super fun wedding party, and Nicole and Joe's laid back personalities helped to make some beautiful portraits and an even more beautiful wedding day.

Jennifer and Timmy

Another sweet session at the hanger! I love the combination of the bright leaves with this adorable couple's monochromatic tones. You can see Jennifer and Timmy's session from last fall here. Rescued: Avi

I am so excited to share another rescue story with you all! This little lady's name is Avi (pronounced like Abby, with a 'v'). She was adopted from a shelter in Colorado, and has since traveled across the country with her mom and dad, visiting over ten national parks (!), and eventually landing in New York with them.  What I find so beautiful about rescue animals is that they always seem to find a way to their people, as if they know they are meant for them before they've even met. Avi was brought into the shelter as a stray, still lactating as a result of having puppies. Her mom and dad had met her and fell in love, but because of the shelter's waiting period policy, she was almost adopted by another family. As fate would have it, the family ultimately decided she wasn't a right fit for them, and her mom and dad scooped her up. You'll notice below that Avi has one expression on her face in all of these photos, which is so funny to me because it is such a testament to her laid back, chill personality.

You can see more rescued stories here. Stay tuned as I add more to this series.

Shelter Name: Babs  Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog, Pointer, Lab Mix   Age: (almost) 3  Adopted in 2013 from Summit County Animal Shelter

Favorite things: Rumpus (what her mom and dad call her random bursts of energy, where she runs around the house like a crazy), hiking, couch naps/extreme snoring, car rides, butt rubs, and licking her dads neck for no reason.
